Instructions to take necessary precautions in MNREGA workplaces to avoid corona

The State MNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) office has given instructions to take necessary measures and take precautions to prevent corona infection at all MNREGA workplaces. MNREGA commissioner Mr. Mohammad Kaiser Abdulhaq has issued a circular to the Collector-cum-District Program Coordinator of all the districts and issued necessary instructions in this regard.

The MNREGA commissioner has said in the circular that during the ongoing construction works under the scheme, measures to protect against Kovid-19 should be strictly adopted. He has said that it will be difficult to follow the guidelines of Kovid-19 due to the large number of workers gathering at the workplace due to starting one work at a time in a Gram Panchayat under MNREGA. This can increase the chances of corona infection.

Referring to the instructions given in the review meeting held recently with the Assistant Project Officers under the chairmanship of Dr. Pillai, the State MNREGA Office has said in the circular that work should be started in different places, villages, mohallas and tolls in a gram panchayat. should be done, so that physical distancing can be followed to protect against Kovid-19 and maximum employment can also be available to the villagers. In the circular, the collectors have been asked to take care that even if more than one work is started in a gram panchayat, the provisions of technical supervision and planning of works should not be violated.

The MGNREGA commissioner has directed to hand over work to the water supplyers, child caretakers, village employment assistants, barefoot technicians (BFTs) and mates in the workplaces only when they are in good health as they come in maximum contact with other laborers. He has asked to leave a dock to ensure adequate physical distance between the workers while giving the lay-out. The MNREGA commissioner has instructed the inspecting technical assistants and other officers to follow the precautions regarding proper physical distance and wearing masks.
