In Chhattisgarh, the initiative of economic empowerment of women through tourism is paying off. New employment opportunities have been created by providing boating facility with floating restaurant in Kenapara tourist center of Surajpur district. In these, women have been linked to other livelihood related activities including boating.
Usha Rajak of Shivshakti Mahila Gram Sangathan, while inaugurating development works in Surajpur district and talking to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, said that the women of the group do boating work in Kenapara tourist place. There are 286 women in his organization. So far, he has earned an income of Rs 16 lakh 71 thousand 190 from boating. Every woman in the group gets an income of 7 thousand per month. Ms. Usha told that she also drives boats and during her stay there, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel had also got her boating done. Along with this, Ms. Usha requested Chief Minister Mr. Baghel to come again for the tour. Chief Minister Mr. Badhel asked the Surajpur Collector to make a hut for accommodation along with the arrangement of boating in the tourist place. It was informed during the program that the roadmap for developing Kenapara has been prepared and accordingly Kenapara tourist destination will be developed.
