Chhattisgarh ranks first in the country in the current financial year 2021-22 in providing 100 days employment to forest rights leasehold families under MNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act). In the first two months of the financial year, April and May only, 1681 families of forest rights lease holders have been given 100 days of employment. At the national level, the share of Chhattisgarh alone is more than 44 percent in the total households with 100 days of employment. Due to the excellent work done under MNREGA in the last April and May, Chhattisgarh ranks fourth in the country in terms of providing employment to the most disabled, sixth in providing 100 days of employment to most families and in completion of work against the target. is in seventh place.
Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shri T.S. Singhdev has patted the departmental officers, state MNREGA team and Panchayat representatives for doing a good job since the beginning of the year in providing employment to the villagers through MNREGA. He expressed hope that the state would be included in the implementation of MGNREGA like previous years, this year also among the top states of the country. Three crore 38 lakh 65 thousand man-days of employment have been created in the state in the first two months of the current financial year. This is more than 25 percent of the target set by the Government of India for the state for a year, 13 crore 50 lakh man-days. The state is ranked seventh at the national level in terms of completion of work against the target. In the last two months, 27 lakh 13 thousand workers of 15 lakh 61 thousand families have been provided employment under MNREGA. These include 18 thousand 132 disabled people. Chhattisgarh ranks fourth in the country in terms of providing employment to the maximum number of differently abled people this year. In the first two months of the financial year 2021-22, 2969 families of the state have got 100 days of employment. Chhattisgarh ranks sixth in the country in this regard. A total of Rs 355 crore 26 lakh wages have been paid to MGNREGA workers in the state in the months of April and May this year.
