Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced that paddy will be purchased on support price in the state from November 1. Extensive preparations have been started for the procurement of paddy in the state. Instructions have been given to the officers to make necessary arrangements in all the paddy procurement centers so that farmers do not face any kind of problem during paddy procurement. At present, the process of registration of new farmers for paddy procurement is going on in the state, which will run till 31 October 2022. Considering the increase in the number of farmers in the state year after year due to the farmer friendly policies of the government, it is estimated that this year the number of registered farmers will cross 25 lakhs. Last year 24.05 lakh farmers had registered for selling paddy, whereas in the year 2020-21, the number of registered farmers was 21.52 lakh. In the marketing year 2021-22, the number of farmers had increased by more than 2.5 lakh compared to the marketing year 2020-21. Due to the farmer-friendly policies of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, there has been a steady increase in the registered paddy area and the number of farmers in the last three years. The number of farmers who registered for selling paddy was 16.96 lakh in the year 2018-19, which has increased to 24.05 lakh in the year 2021-22. In the marketing year 2022-23, the number of registered farmers is estimated to cross 25 lakhs. The exact figure of the actual number of registered farmers will be known only after the registration is over on 31 October 2022. Similarly, the registered area of ​​paddy has also increased from 25.60 lakh hectare to 30.26 lakh hectare in the last three years. Further increase in registered acreage is expected this year. Considering the better condition of paddy crop this year in the state, more procurement is expected than last year. A record purchase of 80.38 lakh metric tonnes has been done in the year 2018-19, 83.94 lakh metric tonnes in the year 2019-20, 92.02 lakh metric tonnes in the year 2020-21 and 98 lakh metric tonnes in the year 2021-22. The village, poor, farmer, business and industry friendly policies of the government have brought prosperity to all sections of the society. Now to give impetus to the rural economy of the state through the Suraji Gaon Yojana, Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana and Godhan Nyay Yojana, for the purchase of paddy and tendu leaves at the highest price in the country by the Government of Chhattisgarh, loan waiver of farmers, waiver of irrigation tax. Till date, an amount of more than one lakh crore rupees has been directly transferred to the bank accounts of villagers, farmers, livestock farmers and minor forest produce collectors, which is the reason why Chhattisgarh’s markets are constantly glowing. Chhattisgarh state is the only state in the country, where along with the purchase of paddy on support price, input subsidy of 9 to 10 thousand rupees per acre is being given to the farmers of all major Kharif crops. Farmer’s betterment is the top priority of the government in the state of Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has waived agricultural loan of Rs. 9270 thousand crore on 17.82 lakh farmers of the state, irrigation tax of Rs. 325 crore and providing free and subsidized electricity to more than 5 lakh farmers and provided relief of about Rs. 900 crore annually.
