Virendra Gahwai, Bilaspur. The High Court has expressed displeasure over the delay despite several instructions regarding the appointment of other staff including psychiatricians in the state mental hospital. In this whole matter, the Chief Secretary has been asked to present the reply. The next hearing of the case has been fixed on 8 April 2025.
While hearing the PIL filed in the High Court, the court asked the state government to continuously hear hearing and order from 4 August 2024 to 4 times. At the same time, only 2 ward boys handling 180 patients have expressed their displeasure in taking automatic cognizance.
Another PIL has been filed in the only mental hospital in the state regarding lack of doctors and staff. At the same time, the hearing of two petitions filed in this case is running together in the Division Bench of the High Court. During the last hearing, the state government presented a reply to the Division Bench. It was informed that the number of beds in the mental patient hospital is being increased to 200. For this, it has been decided to remove the shortage of specialist doctors.
While advocating on behalf of the state government, the law officials of the Advocate General Office had informed the Division Bench that the recruitment process of staff besides specialist doctors will be started soon. In the hearing held on Thursday, apart from the state government, the State Legal Services Authority also presented a reply to the court through its advocate. After the response from both sides, the Division Bench has fixed April 8 for the next hearing.
Information about completion of recruitment process has not been presented yet
Explain that in compliance with the order of 22 August 2024, the affidavit of the Chief Secretary, Government of Chhattisgarh was presented, in which it was told that 650 posts of class-II and IV are to be appointed across the state including appointment in the state mental hospital Sendari. The state advocate had said that the recruitment process is still in progress, but so far this process has not been reported to be completed in the continuous hearing. On this, the bench has ordered the Chief Secretary of the state government to present the reply through an affidavit in this entire case and the next hearing has been fixed on 8 April 2025.
