Farmers are being encouraged to transplant paddy with paddy transplanter machine by the Agriculture Department of the state government. With this modern method, a grant of seven and a half thousand rupees per hectare is given to all the farmers of all the areas of the state for planting paddy.
Director of Agriculture Department, Shri Yashwant Kumar said that while this would increase the production of paddy, the problem of agricultural laborers would be solved and seeds would be saved as well as ease of weeding, hoeing, harvesting etc.
Additional Director Agricultural Engineering Shri G.K. Pedia informed that farmers are selected in the form of cluster for transplanting paddy with paddy transplanter machine. A cluster should be of minimum 4 hectares. A farmer is eligible for grant up to a maximum limit of 2 hectares.
Mrs. Medhni Verma, a farmer of Ganiyari in Tilda block of Raipur district, is getting transplanted in her field through Paddy Transplanter machine. For this, he has prepared nursery in his field about 15 days ago. Similarly, along with Raipur district, all the districts of the division and Kabirdham, Rajnandgaon etc. of Durg division are also getting benefitted.
It is noteworthy that in most of the areas of Chhattisgarh state, at present paddy is sown through chitka (fence casting) method. In this traditional method, where the consumption of seeds is high, there is difficulty in weeding, hoeing, harvesting etc. In view of the continuous shortage of labor for agricultural work, the trend of farmers is now increasing towards transplanting paddy with paddy transplanter machine. To be benefited from the scheme and get information about the scheme, one can contact the office of the Divisional Agricultural Engineer or the Deputy Director Agriculture Office of the districts.
