Governor emphasises on research in technical institutes of State

IIIT Naya Raipur held its first Convocation: Gold Medal for Best All-Round went to Shrikant Gupta and the Chairman’s Gold Medal for best innovation in BTech programmes went to Shashank Kotyan  Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Monday said that technical institutions should promote renovation and creative work. “We must focus on research in new sectors keeping in mind international scenario,” said the Governor while addressing the first Convocation of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Naya Raipur on Monday. The Governor was the Chief guest of the ceremony while Special guest of honour was Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Guests of honour were State Higher and Technical Education Minister Umesh Patel and Ex Director of IIIT Delhi and NBA Ex Chairman Professor Surendra Prasad. IIIT Board Chairman Ajai Chowdhary presided over the ceremony. The Governor said that the intellectual property is the real strength of India and this brings a different identity for the nation. Indian talents are shining like stars on global arena, said the Governor and added that may MNCs are managed by India CEOs. The Governor appealed the graduating students to become entrepreneurs and work for the Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel appealed the students to be part of Chhattisgarh’s development by using their technical knowledge. The Chief Minister said that students should devise methods as to how technology can be better used in agriculture and forest produce and farmers of the state be made more prosperous. The Chief Minister also mentioned the situation of national capital Delhi which is facing severe crisis in the form of air pollution. He said that the stubble can be converted into compost instead of burning. The Higher Education Minister Umesh Patel said that the technical and engineering institutes of Chhattisgarh should be more research-oriented instead of traditional education. Technical Education Principal Secretary Renu G Pillay and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. Vice-Chancellor Dr Pradeep Kumar Sinha presented the Director’s report. Total 69 B Tech Degrees were conferred degrees while 2 Gold Medals such as Institute Gold Medal for best all-round performance in BTech programmes and the Chairman’s Gold Medal for best innovation in BTech programmes were given during the convocation. The Institute Silver Medal for highest CGPA in CSE and ECE disciplines respectively was also awarded. Best thesis in CSE and in ECE was awarded. Gold Medal for Best All-Round went to Shrikant Gupta and the Chairman’s Gold Medal for best innovation in BTech programmes went to Shashank Kotyan. The Institute Silver Medal for highest CGPA in CSE and ECE disciplines respectively went to Ankita Ashpilaya and Shristi Agrawal. ShashankKotyan and Siddhant Dash were awarded Best thesis certificates in CSE and in ECE respectively.
