Bhubaneswar: Rairangpur in Odisha's Mayurbhanj will be connected by air to Ambikapur in neighboring state Chhattisgarh via Rourkela as passenger flight services are set to commence soon, a notification issued by the Union Civil Aviation Ministry today revealed.
Dandbos airstrip, located on the outskirts of Rairangpur city, has been included as part of the Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) regional airport development program of the Government of India. In the first phase, a scheduled flight with 19 seats will fly regularly between Rairangpur and Ambikapur. Airports Authority of India (AAI) has written a letter to Big Charter Private Limited in this regard.
It is noteworthy that the Project Evaluation Committee (PEC) of the Central Government had earlier approved the allocation of funds for this in its 13th meeting on March 5.

Additionally, Dendbos airstrip will be developed under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) of the Government of India at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 45 crore. An official source said the development project includes a flight terminal building and some other facilities for passengers.
