The Chhattisgarh government has long been giving landowners the right to land-owning people in rural areas. In the same link, the village Patrerapali Niwari Mr. Dolprasad of Sakti, a development block in Janjgir-Champa district, says that he got the ownership of the forest land he had held for years. With the fear of eviction from the land ending, he is now living his life by farming without worry with the whole family. The state government is giving forest rights pattas of forest land occupied for years to forest dwellers for their rights and livelihood. Mr. Dolprasad’s family is happy to get ownership of 0.182 hectare land which has been in possession for years now.
Mr. Dolprasad told that for the last 30 years, the land on which farming was done by building enclosures and houses. The state government has made the owner of that land. The land that we made for farming, fencing and living is now our right. The government gave us their rights. Thanking the state government, Shri Dolprasad said that due to the grant of land, his respect in the society has increased. Now there is no fear of eviction from the ground. He told that he was afraid of being evicted for years because the land held in the government records was not recorded in the name of Forest Department. The state government has released them from the concern by giving them forest rights lease.
