Forest and Housing and Environment Minister Shri Mohammad Akbar said that our ancestors have handed over a healthy and clean environment in heritage. We all have the responsibility to make it better and pass it on to the future generations. In view of the present circumstances, he laid special emphasis on the needful and judicious use of natural resources. Addressing a seminar organized by Chhattisgarh Environment Protection Board on the theme of ‘Earth is priceless, maintain balance with nature’ on the occasion of World Environment Day, Shri Akbar said that there is a deep connection between nature and life. The security of life and the prosperity of our future depend in its protection and promotion. At present, protection of the environment and prevention of pollution is very important and we all should participate in this. Environment Minister Shri Akbar further said that we can make sustainable development only by maintaining harmony with nature. Continuous work is being done by the state government in the direction of environmental protection. On this occasion, Environment Minister Mr. Akbar also honored the winning participants in the competition organized by the Chhattisgarh Environment Protection Board. Presiding over the program, senior MLA and former minister Mr. Satyanaran Sharma said that nature is our heritage and the whole world will have to unite and make collective efforts to save it. The keynote speaker of the program Dr.K. Subramaniam said that forests and environment are a priceless gift given by nature. Forests provide a balanced environment for thousands of species of animals. The well being of all of us lies on its protection and promotion. Delivering the welcome address, Shri R.P. Tiwari said that environmental protection is a social and moral responsibility. Every citizen has to be a participant in this. Shri Tiwari highlighted the work being done in the field of environmental protection. Under the guidance of the State Government, continuous action is being taken by the Environment Protection Board in the direction of environmental protection, in which monitoring stations are being set up in the major cities of Chhattisgarh namely Raipur, Durg-Bhilai, Korba and Raigarh for continuous ambient air quality measurement. Along with this, work is being done to establish monitoring station for continuous measurement of water quality of five major rivers Mahanadi, Shivnath, Kharun, Hasdeo and Kelo rivers. Establishment of modern Central Environment Laboratory at Sector-19 Atal Nagar, Nava Raipur by Chhattisgarh Environment Protection Board is in progress. In which world-class testing of various components of the environment will be facilitated. In the program, a presentation on environmental protection was given by the children of Bharat Mata English Medium School through a mime show. Cycle rally was organized by the circle at 6 am.
