Purushottam Patra, Gariaband. There is elephant terror in the last 15 days in Sihar, Chhindaula, Luthapara, Lady Bahara and surrounding dozen villages of Mainpur region. In these villages, groups of elephants are causing huge damage to the crops of the farmers. Many people’s houses have also been demolished and the Forest Department is sitting idle. When the administration did not listen to the problems of the villagers, Panchayat representatives Ghanshyam Nagesh, Duleshwari Nagesh, Digeshwari and many rural area MLAs reached Parry Sadan residence of Janak Dhruv and narrated their ordeal.
Villagers told that for the past fortnight they have been climbing on the roofs of pucca houses with their children after 3 pm to save their lives. Children are not going to school, farming work has come to a standstill. The officers of the department are just coming and going and supplying food. After listening to the problems of the villagers, today MLA Dhruv set out on a bike for the inaccessible area. In this journey of more than 20 km, the MLA had to cross rivers and streams. Local leaders were also present with him.
MLAs climbed onto the rooftops where frightened villagers were spending their days.
After the information, the MLA reached the affected village in the morning and saw the ruined crops and houses. Climbed on the roof and tried to understand how the villagers are spending hours here to save their lives. Hathi Mitra Dal of Chhindaula also met the MLA. Sharing their plight, they told how the department has kept them engaged in risky work for the last 9 months without paying the workers. After listening to everyone’s problems, the MLA has assured the villagers of a permanent solution. The MLA has said that he will meet the Forest Minister soon to demand sirens, torches and necessary compensation.
MLA heard the pain of the villagers
Despite the information, Ranger Chabilal Dhruv along with the forest staff reached the village where the MLA was present. The MLA, who heard the pain of the villagers, inquired about security measures and compensation for the ruined paddy and maize crops. When the officers were seen talking to the villagers about coming regularly, the enraged villagers called the department’s argument false. It was also said that these people come only to enjoy eating chicken and mutton, they are not concerned with our problems.
MLA said – will meet the Forest Minister and provide relief to the villagers
In this matter, Bindranavagarh MLA Janak Dhruv said, after receiving the information, today I reached the inaccessible and elephant affected area by bike. The situation is pathetic. It is surprising that despite the package for elephant affected areas, the Forest Department is failing to provide relief to the villagers. I have come face to face with the pain of the villagers of my area, which I will tell to Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap after reaching the capital. I will soon place a demand before the government to fulfill the demand for relief in the affected areas.
