Education worker recruitment case: 11 teachers who took jobs with the help of fake certificates were found guilty, magistrate sentenced them to 3 years imprisonment

Purushottam Patra, Gariaband. The hearing in the case of people getting jobs with the help of fake certificates continued for 11 years. After the testimony of 26 people in the case, 11 teachers who had worked on the basis of fake B.Ed.D.Ed were found guilty. Six members of the selection committee were not convicted. Judicial Magistrate First Class Prashant Dewangan sentenced all of them to 3 years imprisonment along with a fine. The culprits in the case will now challenge the verdict.

Gariaband First Class Judicial Magistrate Prashant Kumar Dewangan, while giving the verdict on Friday in a case of fake recruitment of education workers in Mainpur, had sentenced 11 education workers to 3 years imprisonment and fine of Rs 1000 each. However, all the convicts got bail yesterday itself and are preparing for appeal. The court had recorded the statements of 26 witnesses in the case. After documentary evidence, 11 accused education workers were found guilty.

D.Ed.B.Ed certificate turned out to be fake

In the year 2008, in the recruitment conducted by BYAPM, candidates without D.Ed. B.Ed were not eligible to appear in the selection examination. Accused Pitambar Sahu, Yogendra Sinha, Dev Narayan Sahu, Bhegeshwari Sahu, Hemlal Sahu, Daulat Ram Sahu, Sanjay Sharma, Mamta Sinha, Shankar Lal Sahu, Arvind Kumar Sinha, Shiv Kumar Sahu told to do D.Ed in the online form filled for the examination, Somehow he got himself included in the selection list. When it came time for verification, he also submitted a fake certificate of D.Ed., which was also accepted by the selection committee.

It took two years to register the case

RTI activist Krishna Kumar, a resident of Chandana in Dhamtari district, obtained information under RTI and revealed that the certificates produced by the above 11 people were fake. He lodged a written complaint with the Raipur Superintendent of Police in April 2010. Meanwhile, the investigation of the documents was going on and the police district became Gariaband. When the case was transferred from Raipur to Gariaband SP office, the investigation started afresh. Due to political protection, the case kept dragging on, finally on January 28, 2012, Mainpur in this case. A crime was registered in the police station under IPC 420,467,468,471,120 B. 11 education workers and 6 officers of the selection committee were made accused in the case. Some officers and women employees had got anticipatory bail, while some employees had to go to jail.

Apart from Byapam recruitment, education workers were recruited by Mainpur district between 2005 and 2007. In this recruitment also the selection committee had openly flouted the rules. In this much-discussed recruitment, apart from the recruitment of additional personnel from the sanctioned post, there was falsification in the marks obtained certificates. 82 dismissed out of which 2 got their jobs back

After investigation, 82 people were dismissed among the education staff appointed by the district in 2015, out of which 5 somehow got stay. Of these, only 2 people even went back to work. The salary of one female teacher who got the job has been stopped from January 2023, while the investigation of the other is in full swing.

The sword of action remains sharp for the accountable

In the recruitment done from Mainpur district, 129 education workers are also in the category of fake documents. On whom the sword of action is hanging. These 129 personnel have become like milch cows for teacher leaders, responsible officers and some leaders.
