Many areas, which were cut off from the mainstream of development for years due to the Naxal influence, have now started moving forward in spite of adverse and difficult conditions. The big challenge of providing facilities to the people of remote areas affected by the highly vulnerable Naxalites is now being solved easily in front of the determination of the State Government and the spirits of the field staff. An example of this is in the form of the beginning of Anganwadi center in Naxal affected village Payatulgutta of Konta development block of Sukma district. The residents here have to face many problems due to illiteracy, backwardness, in which malnutrition also emerged as a main problem. Malnutrition reduces physical and mental development in children as compared to normal children. In such a situation, the campaign started by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to make Chhattisgarh malnutrition-free, to make women and children of remote areas well-nourished, has proved to be a boon. As a result, the village Payatulgutta, which is suffering from Naxalism, has also started fighting against malnutrition. In the year 2019, under the Integrated Women and Child Development Project Konta, the extreme Naxal affected area of Sector Kishtaram 01, Payatulgutta Anganwadi Center opened. It was also difficult to get workers due to the extreme Naxal area, but in June of the year 2020, after the appointment of activist Ms. Todem Parvati, the center started operating. Now the women and children of the area are getting the benefit of facilities like regular vaccination, rural health, sanitation and nutrition program, weight festival, supplementary nutritional diet with the help of Anganwadi worker Todem Parvati and Anganwadi assistant Mrs. Payam Rukmani. By presenting the house, the workers and assistants are explaining to the people about the schemes of the government, proper eating and drinking and explaining many measures to remove malnutrition. At present 18 children, 01 pregnant and 04 infant women are registered in the centre. He has taken 10 malnourished children of the center forward towards nutrition by getting them admitted to the Chief Minister’s Nutrition Center. Villagers of Payatulgutta say that due to regular operation of the center and appointment of Anganwadi workers, many problems of the village have been solved. Earlier deliveries took place at home, women and families did not get proper guidance. Now, with the identification of malnourished children, the villagers have started taking care of their food and drink on time. The workers encourage the villagers and take pregnant women to the Kishtaram Community Health Center for vaccination and delivery. The State Government also organized Chief Minister’s Child Reference Camp at Kishtaram, Gram Panchayat. Along with the screening of children and mothers in the camp, they got the benefit of distribution of special medicines, protein powder and other free materials.
