Chief Minister to transfer Rs 1500 crore into bank accounts of 19 lakh farmers

Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel will transfer Rs 1500 crore into the bank accounts of 19 lakh farmers on August 20, 2020, as the second installment under Rajiv Gandhi Kisaan Nyay Yojana. Chief Minister will transfer the second installment under the scheme in a programme to be organized via video conferencing from his residence office, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna late Shri Rajiv Gandhi. The programme will be attended by the Cabinet Ministers. On the occasion, Chief Minister will also transfer Rs 232.81 crore into the bank accounts of tendupatta collectors as bonus for the collection in year 2018. Chief Minister will also transfer the payment into the bank accounts of dung sellers, against cowdung procured in the second fortnight. 

Under Rajiv Gandhi Kisaan Nyay Yojana of Chhattisgarh Government, 19 lakh farmers of the state are being provided grant aid of Rs 5750 crore. First installment under the scheme i.e. Rs 1500 crore was transferred into the accounts of farmers on martyrdom day of Shri Rajiv Gandhi i.e. on May 21, 2020. Likewise, the second installment of Rs 1500 crore under the scheme will be transferred on August 20, 2020 on the occasion of birth anniversary of Shri Rajiv Gandhi. State Government is procuring dung at the rate of Rs 2/kg under Godhan Nyay Yojana. On the occasion, payment to the dung sellers for dung sold between August 2 and August 15 will be transferred into their bank accounts. 

On the occasion, bonus worth Rs 232 crore 81 lakh will be transferred into the bank accounts of 11 lakh 46 thousand 626 tendupatta collectors of 728 societies, for the tendupatta collection done in year 2018 in 114 development blocks of the state. Chief Minister will transfer the bonus amount via RTGS directly into the bank accounts of tendupatta collectors. For bonus distribution to the labourers engaged in tendupatta collection, district-level programmes will be held in the districts concerned and block-level programme will be held in all 114 development blocks.

It is noteworthy that in year 2018 season, total 14.85 lakh standard sacks of tendupatta was collected by 880 primary forest societies of the state. And the wage rate in year 2018 was Rs 2500 per standard sack of tendupatta collected. In year 2018, Rs 371.15 crore was distributed as wages to 11 lakh 98 thousand 673 tendupatta collectors. 854 out of these 880 societies had released tendupatta through tender. 728 of these societies were in profit. State Government’s policy has the provision of distributing 80% of the net profit from tendupatta business to the labourers engaged in tendupatta collection.
