Chief Minister tasted dhenki rice in Danikundi: Self-help group women earning about 400 rupees per day

Women of self-help group of village Danikundi in Gorela-Pendra-Marwahi district are earning an income of about 400 rupees per day by chopping dhenki rice. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel tasted dhenki rice with Idhar’s vegetable during the visit of the district in the past. He liked this food very much and the Chief Minister praised it and stressed on the need to adopt this traditional method in every household of the village to promote the production of Dhenki rice, so that people can be fully equipped with nutrients along with employment at home. Rice will also be available.
The Chief Minister also interacted with the women of the Vandhan Mahila Self-Help Group engaged in processing work after observing the Dhenki Rice Processing Unit at the Center operated at Diversified Facility cum Price Promotion Center in village Danikundi. The women told them that at present they are mowing the thick rice with dhenki. Paddy is procured by the Forest Department from Rs. 30 to Rs. 35 per kg. The price of rice prepared after kutai is Rs 60 to 65 per kg. Women are paid Rs 10 per kg of rice pestle and after the rice is made, the women sell the paddy husk and make a profit. Each woman harvests 15 to 18 kg of paddy daily. The work of cleaning and packing rice after kutai is also responsible for these women.
