Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly has created a history of discipline and ideals in parliamentary traditions: Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh
Raipur, March 24, 2025/Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, while warmly welcoming the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, on behalf of the people of the state at the silver jubilee celebration of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly today, said that it is fortunate for all of us that when the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly is celebrating its glorious 25 years, the first citizen of the country is present among us. He said that the silver year of Chhattisgarh, formed in 2000 under the leadership of Bharat Ratna late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, coincides with his birth centenary year, which we are celebrating as Atal Nirman Varsh.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the 25-year journey of our Legislative Assembly is a symbol of strong democratic traditions. Chhattisgarh has strengthened Indian democracy, which has been going on since the Vedic period, through its work. Serious discussions on public welfare issues in the House, strong deliberations and decisions taken in a healthy environment enrich our parliamentary culture. He said that the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly has not only prioritized legislative work, but also the leadership development of representatives. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that our Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji says that the learning process should continue continuously. The Public Leadership Program recently organized at IIM Raipur for the members of the Legislative Assembly is an example of this, where training was given on important aspects of leadership and administration. He said that we are all committed to building a developed India and a developed Chhattisgarh together.
Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, while welcoming President Smt. Droupadi Murmu, said that the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly has the honor of the President of India addressing the House for the third time. Earlier, late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and Smt. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil have addressed the Legislative Assembly. He described President Murmu ji’s simple, struggling and inspiring life as a source of inspiration for the women, public representatives and youth of the country. He described the 25-year journey of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly as a journey to strengthen democratic values. He said that the tradition of ‘self-discipline’ has been established in the House, where the members have set an example for the entire country by following the rules made by themselves.
Dr. Singh said that the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly has created a national and international identity in the field of parliamentary activities. He mentioned that the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly passed the Public Service Guarantee Act in 2011 and the Food Security Act in 2012, which are symbols of Antyodaya and inclusive development. Dr. Raman Singh informed that the Legislative Assembly will soon be shifted to the new building located in Naya Raipur. He described the presence of the President as an indelible chapter in the memories of the House. He said that outstanding public representatives and journalists are regularly awarded and honored in the Legislative Assembly, which strengthens democratic consciousness.
Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant heartily welcomed the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, describing her as a symbol of struggle, simplicity and service. He said that the life of the President is a source of inspiration for the entire country. He expressed his gratitude for the historical presence of President Smt. Murmu and said that we will all take inspiration from her words and work unitedly in the development of Chhattisgarh.
On this occasion, Governor Shri Ramen Deka released the Legislative Assembly Member Reference Booklet and presented the first copy of the booklet to President Smt. Droupadi Murmu.
All the ministers of the cabinet and all the members of the Legislative Assembly were present on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee celebration.
