Recently in some states of India, signs of nodular skin disease (Lumpi’s disease) have been seen in animals. This disease is caused due to infection of nodular skin disease virus in cattle and buffalo cattle. The main carriers of this disease are mosquitoes, flies and mites, through which this infection spreads to healthy animals. At present, no symptoms of this disease have been found in the state. As a precaution, the Collector has temporarily banned the organization of cattle haat-markets in the districts. Along with this, from the point of view of security, temporary checkposts have been made in the villages of the border districts of the state, so that the animals entering from neighboring states can be stopped. Livestock Development Department is conducting preventive vaccination with Got-pox Vaccine to protect the animals from the infection of this disease in the border villages. In the border villages, awareness campaign is also being run among the livestock owners to make them aware about the symptoms and prevention measures. For monitoring this disease, the departmental staff were directed to visit the villages continuously and keep in touch with the farmers. And in the event of diseases of animals, arrangements have been made in the regional institutions to provide medical facilities in sufficient quantity. Apart from this, adequate budget has been made available in the districts to deal with the odd situation, so that preventive vaccination can be done expeditiously in the animals of other villages by purchasing vaccines and other materials on time. It has been advised to spray bactericidal drug in the animal habitat and spray insecticide in the animals so that the main carriers of this disease can be controlled. It is important to note that the animals suffering from lumpy skin have moderate fever for 02 to 03 days. Symptoms are found, after which round and round lumps are reflected in the skin of the affected animals. Due to persistent fever, there is an adverse effect on the dosage of the animals, due to which the milk production in milch animals and the efficiency of the bearing animals decreases. Diseased animals recover in two to three weeks, but due to physical infirmity milk production is affected for several weeks Like this:Like Loading… Continue Reading
