Chhattisgarh Health and Family Welfare Minister T S Singhdeo said that the Chhattisgarh government would not support the use of COVAXIN, India’s first indigenous COVID vaccine, in the vaccination process in Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh Health and Family Welfare Minister Singhdeo tweeted on Sunday, “We do not support the use of COVAXIN in the vaccination process in Chhattisgarh for one simple reason that COVAXIN is not safe to use, any vaccine unless it has completed the recommended testing process with absolute authentication and success.” “As Indians we are proud of advancement made by Bharat Biotech and congratulate the researchers and scientists. The only issue is when to start the usage. In my opinion, we mustn’t rush headlong into starting its widespread use and wait for completion of phase-3 trials and appraisal,” Singhdeo said. “Rushing into general use before trials are complete, will set a precedent where other companies will seek emergency use authorisation before completing mandated trials. This may also jeopardise the valuable lives and health of our citizens,” he added.
