E-way Bill Limit Increased to ₹1 Lakh, VAT on Petrol Reduced by ₹1 per Liter
Raipur, April 1, 2025/Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chhattisgarh government has implemented two important decisions to provide relief to small traders and middle-class families in the state, which have come into effect from April 1, 2025.
These decisions were included in the 2025-26 budget under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and the directives of Finance Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary.
Increase in E-way Bill Limit: Now Goods Transportation up to ₹1 Lakh Will Be Without an E-way Bill
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the state government has increased the mandatory e-way bill limit for the transportation of goods within Chhattisgarh from ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh. This decision has been taken with the aim of providing relief to small traders in particular. With this decision, traders will now not require an e-way bill for the transportation of goods worth up to ₹1 lakh. This decision will exempt approximately 26% of traders generating e-way bills in the state from generating e-way bills. This decision will reduce e-way bill generation by 54 percent, leading to a significant reduction in compliance costs.
However, this exemption will not apply to certain specific items such as paan masala, tobacco products, specific wood products such as plywood, laminated sheets, particle board, fiber board, iron, steel and their goods, and coal.
This decision has been taken in response to a long-standing demand by traders for an exemption in e-way bills, which is a major initiative towards making trade easier and more cost-effective.
Reduction of ₹1 per Liter in VAT on Petrol: Direct Relief to Middle-Class Families
The state government has reduced the amount of VAT on petrol by ₹1 per liter with effect from April 1, 2025. This decision will directly reduce petrol prices, which will particularly benefit middle-class and lower-middle-class families.
The number of two-wheeler users is high in Chhattisgarh, who mainly depend on petrol. This reduction in VAT will prove helpful in reducing the daily costs of these families.
This decision has also been implemented in line with the announcement made by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Finance Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary in the 2025-26 budget, keeping in mind the current economic situation.
Government’s Commitment: Ease, Convenience, and Sensitivity
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chhattisgarh government is continuously taking such decisions that are meaningful, public-welfare oriented, and full of foresight, understanding the problems of the people of the state. These decisions to provide convenience to the business community and relief to the general public will prove to be important factors in giving impetus to the economic development of the state.
