Raipur, 26 November 2024/ When darkness is visible everywhere in life, then even a small light of hope illuminates the whole life. Similar is the story of 15 year old Asha Chakresh, living in Gram Panchayat Remte of Kunkuri development block. Asha, who was suffering from sickle cell, had many ups and downs in her life but no ray of hope was visible anywhere. Here Chief Minister Special Health Assistance Scheme came as a new hope for Asha.

Asha has been suffering from Siklin's disease since birth. This information was no less than a shock for the laboring parents. Doctors had told that Asha has a type of sickle cell disease which affects one person in 10 lakh people. In this regard, Asha's mother Bimla Bai Chakresh told that Asha's father Late. Mangalaram Chakresh was always concerned about his health and treatment. The couple visited several hospitals for Asha's treatment with the help of their small savings and the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Even after getting Asha tested everywhere from Raipur to Indore and Mumbai, she was disappointed.

Since childhood, Asha had to visit the hospital every month for blood transfusion and had to bear the expenses for it. In such a situation, one day father Mangalram also died in a tragic accident. In this situation, further treatment of Asha seemed impossible. One day a medical camp was organized by the district administration where after examination the doctors advised for bone marrow transplant. It was not possible for us to bear the expense, then the district administration provided an assistance of Rs 1 lakh for the investigation, due to which it was possible to go to Raipur and investigate. But the problem of expensive treatment still remained.

The doctors informed him about the Chief Minister's Special Health Assistance Scheme. From where the application was sent by the Health Department to the office of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai. Taking immediate action, the Chief Minister approved it and provided Rs 20 lakh for the treatment. After which a donor was identified for bone marrow transplant in a reputed hospital of Raipur. After the donor's sample matched, Asha's bone marrow transplant operation was performed. After which Asha got a new life. Asha and her mother thanked Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai for this new life and said that if the Chief Minister had not helped, perhaps it would not have been possible for them to save Asha's life.
