The participation of farmers in the district has been significant in the purchase of paddy from December 1, 2020. All arrangements to sell paddy for farmers have been ensured by the district administration. So far more than 79 percent farmers have sold paddy as compared to last year. So far, one lakh eight thousand 722 metric tonnes of paddy have been purchased from 25 thousand 831 farmers of the district.
Out of 32 thousand 590 farmers registered for selling paddy, 79 percent farmers have sold their paddy. On an average, the amount of paddy sold in two to three days is being transferred directly to the bank accounts of the farmers in the district. So far, more than Rs 203 crore 77 lakh has been paid in lieu of paddy sold to farmers.
District Food Officer said that the government has set a target of one lakh 20 thousand 400 metric tonnes for the procurement of paddy for the district in the Kharif marketing year 2020-21. One lakh eight thousand 722 metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased. 11 thousand 678 metric tonnes of paddy is yet to be procured for target supply. Among the paddy purchased so far, thick paddy contains 97 thousand 115 metric tons, thin paddy one thousand 961 metric tons and Sarna paddy nine thousand 645 metric tons.
