23 August 2021 / Simple and risk-free transportation not only gives convenience to the residents, but the road also brings many new opportunities of development to them. Keeping in view the accessibility of development through roads, the state government is increasingly engaged in connecting villages to the headquarters to make facilities and opportunities accessible to them. An example of this is the high level bridge built across the Kotri river near Kodekurse, a small village in Durgukondal block of Kanker district, which has made life easier for thousands of villagers in about 40 villages. For the convenience of the villagers, the state government has constructed this bridge at a cost of about Rs 10 crore 83 lakh. Along with this, an approach road is also being made to connect the bridge. Earlier, the villagers of Kodekurse area had to travel through anicuts on the top of the newly constructed high level bridge, which was always risky. There have also been many accidents here in the past years. With the construction of the bridge, the villagers have got freedom from risk. Due to the flooding of the river due to excessive rainfall, the rural block headquarters of the area were almost cut off from Durgukondal. With the construction of the bridge, it is proving to be very useful for the villagers. Their problem of being cut off from other areas during rainy days is also over. With the construction of the bridge, not only the villagers have started getting the facility of transportation, but business activities have also started increasing here. Kodekurse-Jadekurse-Oteksa (Madanwada) 15 km road has also been constructed by the state government in this zone at a cost of about Rs.07 crore, which connects Manpur in Rajnandgaon district. This area is surrounded by rivers and streams from all sides, has no means of transportation and is very sensitive area. With the construction of the road, people have got the facility of transportation as well as business activities have increased here. The government has also constructed the Kodekurse via Hamtwahi-Karkapal road from Badgaon. Villagers of 17 villages have benefited from its construction. Being a sensitive area, the road and the bridges and culverts coming between it have been constructed under the protection of paramilitary forces. The Durgukondal-Bamhani-Amodi road, which was three meters wide earlier, has been widened to 5.5 meters, people of 09 villages are benefiting from its renovation.
