Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey have appealed to the farmers of the state to donate para-donations for the arrangement of cow’s fodder in Gauthans. In his appeal issued to the farmers, the Chief Minister has said that you all are aware that for the protection and promotion of livestock in the villages of the state, Gauthans have been made under the Suraji Gaon Yojana. In these Gauthans, cow fodder and water have been provided free of cost by the Gauthan committees. In order to make adequate arrangements for dry fodder in Gauthans for livestock, farmers are urged to donate paras to the Gauthan committee of their village like last year, instead of burning the paras in the fields after harvesting the paddy. This will make it easier for the committees to make arrangements for fodder for cows. The Chief Minister has also directed to reward and felicitate the farmer who donated the most para-donations for cow’s fodder and the Gauthan Management Committee, which collected the most paras at the development block level. Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, in his letter sent to the collectors for arranging fodder through para-donation in Gauthans, has said that harvesting of paddy crop is done in abundance in the state with combine harvesters. As a result of which Para spreads in the fields. Farmers usually burn the paras spread in the fields instead of collecting them. Due to this the environment is polluted and fodder is also not available for the animals. He has asked the collectors to ensure that the paras spread in the fields after harvesting the paddy crop are conveniently collected. For this, he has asked to collect the paras spread in the fields by putting a wire mesh behind the cultivator or by making a bundle and keeping them safely in the Gauthans. He has asked the Gauthan Management Committee to make arrangements for the Para according to the number of animals coming to the Gauthans.
