Young talent gets chance: Singh urges patience for Sunyavanshi amid competition
Robin Singh emphasized that a promising youngster like Vaibhav Sunyavanshi should not be rushed out of the line‑up after a handful of games. Speaking to IANS, Singh highlighted the importance of allowing a player to settle and experience the rigours of top‑level cricket. "You don’t want to plug a youngster for just one or two matches and then sit them on the bench," he explained. Sunyavanshi’s early career includes a solid IPL stint and a debut against England in July 2026, followed by selective appearances for the senior side. While his talent is evident, Singh noted that other contenders, especially Sanju Samson, have also delivered strong performances, such as two half‑centuries against Afghanistan and an 82‑run innings versus the West Indies. This internal rivalry, according to Singh, is beneficial, keeping players under pressure to avoid complacency. The former cricketer believes that patience, combined with consistent competition, will ultimately strengthen India’s T20 batting order.
