Yamal and Rafinha Fire Two Each as Barcelona Beat Alaves 6-1
Barcelona, November 1: Lamine Yamal and Rafinha each scored twice as Barcelona overwhelmed Deportivo Alaves 6-1 at Camp Nou, a result that returned the club to winning ways in La Liga.
The contest was largely one-sided. Barcelona took control from the start and began to look dangerous early on, scoring their first goal in the eighth minute.
Rafinha was the first to find the net, finishing a long team move that started with Pedri's pass and involved 15 passes and nine players. He doubled his tally in the 41st minute.
Fermin Lopez gave Barcelona a 2-0 lead in the 23rd minute with a finish from Yamal's pass. Alaves tried to respond, and one effort struck the woodwork, forcing Joan Garcia into action to stop Protesoni.
Yamal scored in first-half stoppage time, in the 45+1st minute, and then took his tally to two in the 64th minute, slipping the ball past Sivera after a pass from Gabriel Jesus. The goal was initially disallowed for offside, but VAR reviews confirmed the timing of his run.
Anthony Gordon scored in the 81st minute, and Mariano Diaz replied for Alaves in the 84th minute.
Barcelona had suffered back-to-back defeats to Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid before this win. Their performance against Alaves showed they were back on track and still leading the La Liga standings.
