A calf strain forced World No.6 Linda Noskova to abandon her participation in the Wuhan Open. Her early withdrawal triggered a chain reaction among the seeded players.
Belinda Bencic, the ninth seed, now occupies Noskova’s place at line 48 and receives a direct pass into round two. Following her promotion, Anna Kalinskaya moves into Bencic’s former slot on line 9 and will face Zhang Shuai in the opening round. The tournament will also admit a lucky loser to fill the gap left by Kalinskaya’s original draw position.
The main draw will be released on Monday, and the event’s final is set for 18 October.
