WPL Auction 2027: Sushma Verma Finds Place with UP Warriorz

Kochi, October 28: The WPL 2027 auction brought several notable stories, including the return of experienced wicketkeeper-batter Sushma Verma to a franchise after years on the sidelines.

UP Warriorz bought Sushma Verma for her base price of Rs 30 lakh. She had gone unsold in the previous three auctions.

Speaking about her selection, Sushma said her patience had finally paid off after being left out in earlier auctions. She said, "I am very grateful for the chance to represent UP Warriorz. I was only hoping for and waiting for this opportunity. Every player works hard and performs well, but in franchise cricket there are times when there is simply no place for you. I was not picked in the last three auctions, but I was confident that my hard work would bear fruit one day and everything would fall into place. That is why I am very happy to be chosen by UP Warriorz. Thank you very much to UP Warriorz for trusting me."

In another key development, uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Latika Inamdar was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 10 lakh. Her close friend Bharti Rawal was also signed by MI for the same amount of Rs 10 lakh.

Latika said she was thrilled to join the two-time champions. "I am very excited to be part of Mumbai Indians, a two-time champion team. I am also very happy that Bharti Rawal and I are in the same team. We were sitting together watching the auction and waiting to see which team would pick us. When we found out that both of us had been chosen by the same team, it felt very special. I am really looking forward to the upcoming season."
