In a thrilling start to the second leg of the Women’s Pro Golf Tour (WPGT) 2026, Riddhima Dilawari grabbed the early advantage with a 2-under 70 at Ahmedabad’s Kalhar Blues & Greens course on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old, who was runner-up in the season opener just seven days ago, displayed poise under pressure. After bogeys on the 5th and 10th holes, she fired four birdies—including consecutive ones on 7-8 and 14-15—to claim a slim one-shot lead over Sneha Singh.
Sneha, seeking redemption after a subpar first leg, played flawlessly without a bogey. Her single birdie on the 16th left her at 1-under 71, keeping her in contention.
The leaderboard bunched up behind them, with six players sharing fifth at 1-over 73: Vani Kapoor (last year’s Order of Merit champion), Jahnavi Bakshi, Nayanika Sanga, amateur Mahreen Bhatia, Karishma Govind, and debutante Sanvi Somu.
Dilawari’s strategy this season centers on building consistency in home events. Her round featured a strong finish, turning potential deficits into gains on the back nine.
Sneha’s disciplined approach shone through 17 pars and one birdie, a testament to her experience with two 2025 victories.
Standouts in the chasing pack included Nayanika’s five birdies offset by bogeys and a triple, while Vani clawed back with mid-round birdies despite late trouble.
Jasmin Shekhar, triumphant last week, faltered badly at 7-over 79, marred by multiple bogeys and a last-hole birdie offering little solace.
As the tournament progresses, expect fierce battles on this challenging layout, where precision and mental fortitude will define the champion.
