Cricket enthusiasts are buzzing after the ICC unveiled the full schedule for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, to be hosted across England from June 12 to July 5. The championship match will grace the hallowed turf of Lord’s, capping off what is set to be a thrilling two-week cricketing carnival.
Organized into two groups of six, the 12 participating nations will battle it out in a round-robin format. Group 1 boasts India alongside six-time winners Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and newcomers Netherlands. Group 2 includes West Indies, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Ireland, and Scotland, ensuring no shortage of drama.
India’s campaign launches with high stakes: a riveting encounter against Pakistan at Edgbaston on June 14. Subsequent fixtures include Netherlands (June 17), South Africa (June 21), Bangladesh (June 25), and the formidable Australia (June 28)—each promising edge-of-the-seat action.
In his official remarks, ICC Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta described the schedule release as ‘an essential milestone in gearing up for this flagship global event.’ He spotlighted the ICC’s strategic push in women’s cricket, encompassing broader participation, elite training programs, superior production values, increased prize pools, expanded broadcasting, and lucrative sponsorships to boost fan engagement worldwide.
Gupta reflected on the transformative impact of the Women’s World Cup in India, noting, ‘It elevated the game to new heights. Our goal is to replicate and amplify that energy in this summer showdown.’
Despite reaching the final once and semis four times in nine previous T20 World Cups, India has yet to claim the title. With a stacked group and home-like support in England, 2026 could be the year Team India breaks through and claims silverware.
