Women's Hundred Gives Fatima Sana International Exposure, PCB Confirms

Pakistan’s board has cleared captain Fatima Sana to skip the Sri Lanka T20 tour in favour of the Women’s Hundred tournament in England. The decision is aimed at providing the young all‑rounder with valuable experience in a fast‑paced, high‑visibility league.

Sana will still represent Pakistan in the one‑day series against Sri Lanka, which forms part of the ICC Women’s Championship. After the final ODI on July 28, she will travel directly to England to join Birmingham Phoenix for the rest of the Hundred fixtures.

The 24‑year‑old was drafted as a wildcard, replacing Australia’s Lucy Hamilton, and signed a contract of at least £15,000 with the Phoenix.

In the most recent T20 World Cup, Sana impressed against South Africa with an unbeaten 55 from 38 balls and a three‑wicket haul for just 16 runs. She ended the tournament with 11 wickets at an economy of 6.95, making her the joint second‑leading bowler despite Pakistan’s modest finish.

This will be her third overseas domestic T20 appearance, following campaigns with the Barbados Royals in 2022 and Canterbury in New Zealand’s 2023 Super Smash. PCB officials state that competing in a tournament of the Hundred’s calibre will sharpen her skills and bring long‑term benefits to the national side.
