West Ham Honors Late Goalkeeper Ludek Miklosko with Tribute

West Ham United announced a commemorative event for former goalkeeper Ludek Miklosko, who died on September 14 at 64 after a prolonged fight against cancer.

Miklosko, a club legend, played more than 300 games for the Hammers and earned the “Hammer of the Year” award for the 1990‑91 season. His career also included a period with Queens Park Rangers between 1998 and 2001 and a distinguished international record for Czechoslovakia (1982‑1992) and the Czech Republic (1996‑1997).

The club’s statement described him as a “gentle soul with a massive heart” and expressed deep sorrow at his passing. Martin Miklosko, his son, praised West Ham’s supporters, saying his father loved hearing the crowd chant his name at each match.

The Hammers will hold a special ceremony before their Carabao Cup tie against Fulham on Tuesday and will dedicate their upcoming Premier League fixture with QPR on October 9 to Miklosko’s memory. The Czech Football Federation and AFC R chairman David Trunda also released tributes, highlighting his impact on Czech football history.
