Warwickshire Women welcome India's star batter Pratika Rawal

Warwickshire Women have officially announced the signing of India’s premier opener Pratika Rawal. The 25‑year‑old right‑hander will join the English side before the upcoming One‑Day Cup fixtures, which commence on 19 August. Rawal, who debuted for India in 2024, quickly rose to prominence by scoring over 600 runs in her first ten ODIs, cementing her place among the world’s top opening batters.

Speaking about the move, Rawal said, “I am delighted to become part of Warwickshire. The club’s reputation precedes it, and I am excited to begin work, support my teammates and test my game in English conditions. Playing at Edgbaston is a dream, and I can’t wait for the experience.”

Warwickshire’s release emphasized that the deal strengthens a side already doing well in the One‑Day Cup standings. The management expects Rawal’s skill set to enhance the squad’s performance as they aim for a strong finish to the season.

Rawal’s résumé also features a pivotal role in the 2025 Women’s World Cup, where she led the tournament’s scoring with 308 runs and notched a second ODI century in a must‑win game, despite missing the final due to injury. Earlier this year, she made a successful Test debut against Australia, posting a resilient 68 in the second innings. Head coach Ali Medan welcomed her arrival, noting that her presence will be valuable in the competition’s concluding phases.
