Vivan Dave Dominates Gujarat State Championship in Two Age Groups
Vivan Dave produced a standout performance at the Gujarat State Table Tennis Championship 2026, claiming gold in both the Under-17 and Under-19 categories. The event took place in Gandhidham from October 16 to 20, and the 14-year-old's results underline his rapid rise in the sport.
His success in two separate age groups is a clear sign of his expanding influence in table tennis. Facing players older than himself, Vivan displayed the skill and consistency that have marked his recent progress.
As a member of the Adani Sportsline 'Garv Hai' athlete roster, Vivan has also been recognised for earlier achievements, including a second-place finish in India in the Under-15 category. He continues to build on his record in both domestic and international competitions.
This year, he won the Under-17 gold at the UTT National Ranking Table Tennis Championship in Kanpur. On the global junior circuit, he took silver in the Under-15 category at the WTT Youth Contender in Ulaanbaatar and bronze in the same category at the WTT Youth Contender in Tashkent.
His 2025 season included a double-gold showing at the UTT 87th Inter-State Sub-Junior and Cadet National Table Tennis Championship, where he won the Under-15 individual and team titles.
Vivan took up table tennis at the age of five and has set his goal on representing India at the Olympics and earning a gold medal for the nation. The 'Garv Hai' initiative helps his development with kits, equipment, and travel support, enabling him to stay focused on training. He has been part of the programme since August 1, 2026.
Vivan said, "Winning gold in both the Under-17 and Under-19 categories at the state championship is a proud moment for me. I was competing against bigger and more experienced players, and every match taught me something new. I began playing at five, and my dream has always been to play for India at the Olympics and win a gold medal for my country. Adani Sportsline has helped with my kit, equipment, and travel, and their support lets me concentrate fully on training and performance."
Vivan's next event is the WTT Youth Contender in Chennai, scheduled for October 23 to 26. After that, he will prepare for the National Ranking Table Tennis Championship in Punjab later this year.
