Visakhapatnam to Serve as Hub for BRICS Youth and Sports Dialogue in August
The coastal city of Visakhapatnam is set to host an important BRICS summit on August 22‑23, 2026, bringing together youth and sports ministers from all member countries under India’s chairmanship.
The summit aligns with India’s 2026 BRICS theme – Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability – and seeks to translate that vision into concrete programmes for young people and athletes across the globe.
The first day will feature the BRICS Youth Ministers’ Meeting, where officials will discuss strategies to enhance education, skill acquisition, entrepreneurship, social welfare and alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals. The meeting will also take stock of the recommendations issued by the BRICS Youth Council and the recent youth conference, aiming to adopt a unified youth‑cooperative framework.
On the second day, the spotlight turns to sports. Ministers from Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the UAE will convene to forge deeper links in traditional and indigenous sports, sports technology, joint manufacturing initiatives and policy harmonisation. The session will conclude with the adoption of a joint sports declaration.
Complementary events include a BRICS Friendship Cycling race, cultural performances by all member nations, and bilateral side‑talks. The agenda underscores India’s commitment to leveraging its BRICS presidency to build people‑centred partnerships.
