Veteran Swimmer Focuses on Recovery Ahead of Asian Games
Sajan Prakash, a seasoned Indian swimmer with over two decades of experience, is prioritising recovery as he prepares for the Asian Games slated for September. Speaking to the Sports Authority of India, Prakash reflected on his journey: after a demanding Olympic cycle, he took a break to let his body recover from accumulated stress. He highlighted that as athletes age, rest becomes a crucial component of performance, not a sign of weakness. Prakash, now 32, has shifted his training emphasis toward endurance and aerobic power, building a strong foundation that he believes will support his focus on the 200‑metre butterfly event. He has appointed former Asian Games medalist Sandeep Sejwal as his coach, leveraging Sejwal’s experience to navigate local challenges and refine his program. Prakash remains resolute that systematic preparation and disciplined recovery will help him chase medals at both the Commonwealth and Asian Games.
