Double victory for USA in Hangzhou ISSF shooting World Cup women's skeet

Hangzhou, China – The ISSF World Cup in Hangzhou saw the United States claim both top spots in the women’s skeet event on July 23. Kimbrelli Rod, a three‑time Olympic champion, started the final strongly and maintained her lead to defeat Samantha Simonton 34‑32, adding a 27th World Cup gold to her record and marking her 41st World Cup medal overall.

Chinese shooter Che Yufei secured bronze with 28 hits, achieving her second World Cup medal this season. In the qualification stage, 27‑year‑old Jiang Yiting—bronze medallist from the Paris 2024 Olympics—recorded the highest score of 123 hits but missed out on the tie‑breaker, ending the day in fifth place, while teammate Jiang Chaoyou finished seventh.

The second session featured Liu Jianlin, Jiang Yiting’s mixed‑team partner, who took bronze in the men’s skeet with a 29‑hit effort, further boosting China’s medal count.

In the 50‑meter rifle three‑position finals, Britain’s Seonaid McIntosh edged China’s Han Jiayu by a slim 0.3‑point margin, scoring 362.6 against 362.3 to win gold. Norway’s Janne Grete Preikestøren collected bronze with 347.6 points, and China’s Zhang Lian placed fourth.

Qatar’s Rashid Saleh Al‑Athba captured the men’s skeet title with a near‑perfect 35‑hit performance, equalling the world record and beating Spain’s Jose Maria Miguel Monedero by a single target. Peru’s Nicolas Pacheco Espinosa rounded out the top four.

The Hangzhou World Cup will continue through July 28, with the remaining medal events—women’s 10‑meter air pistol and men’s 25‑meter rapid fire pistol—scheduled for Friday.
