Unity Cup: Jamaica Beats India 2-0, Faces Nigeria in Final

A youthful Indian side was outplayed 2-0 by Jamaica in the Unity Cup semifinal at The Valley. Courtney Clarke’s early strike and Kaheim Dixon’s late solo effort sent the Reggae Boyz into the final against Nigeria. India, playing its first game in England since 2002, will now contest the third-place playoff against Zimbabwe. Coach Khalid Jamil handed debuts to Naufal PN and Ricky Shabong, while Edmund Lalrindika started for the first time. India began nervously and fell behind after just eight minutes when Clarke punished a defensive mix-up. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu kept the score down with several excellent stops, yet Jamaica continued to create the better openings. After the interval, India improved and almost equalised through a quick counter, but an offside flag denied them. Dixon then produced a moment of brilliance in the 78th minute, weaving through the defence before finishing neatly. Despite late pressure, India could not find a way back. The team now turns its attention to the playoff against Zimbabwe, aiming to finish the tournament with pride and valuable experience for the young squad.
