New Delhi, August 21 – At the BWF World Championships, the Indian women’s doubles team of Trisha Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand turned a first‑game deficit into a comprehensive win over the high‑ranked Chinese pair Ji Yifan and Zhang Shuxian. After falling 16‑21 in the opening game, the Indian duo rallied to claim the next two games 21‑15 and 21‑13, securing a medal for India.

The Chinese side started strongly, racing to a 6‑2 lead and later holding an 8‑9 advantage. Despite a spirited fight, the Indians could not overturn the momentum, and the Chinese closed the first set 21‑16. In the second set, Trisha and Gayatri tightened their defense and increased the pace of their attacks, edging ahead 11‑10 and then pulling away to 17‑14 before sealing the set at 21‑15.
