Top Order Fails as India A Are Dismissed for 113 by New Zealand A

Lincoln, October 24: A batting collapse left India A on 113 all out in the opening unofficial Test against New Zealand A. The match at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln began on Saturday, and the struggles of several senior Test players have become the main story on the first day.

India's players had just completed five T20 and five ODI matches. A two-match Test series against New Zealand's senior team now lies ahead, and the start in Lincoln has put pressure on the batting group.

Winning the toss, New Zealand A chose to bowl. India A began their innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul. Rahul did not open his account and was dismissed on the eighth ball of his innings. Jaiswal was out for 17. Sai Sudharsan was dismissed for zero. Dhruv Jurel, who is both captain and wicketkeeper, made 1, and Washington Sundar was out for zero.

These players are all part of the senior squad and are likely to play in the Test XI. Their disappointing displays are a worry for India before the Test series against the senior New Zealand team.

The innings was partly rescued by Devdutt Padikkal at number three, who scored 32, and Yash Rathod at number six, who remained not out on 44. Anshul Kamboj scored 10. Six Indian batters failed to reach double figures, and the team's total would probably have been far lower without Padikkal and Rathod.

For New Zealand A, Simon Keen took 5 wickets and Jack Gibson took 3. Fraser Shet and Christian Clarke each took one wicket.

At the time of writing, New Zealand A were 47 without loss in 14.1 overs of their first innings.
