Third ODI sees KL Rahul’s 129* anchor India’s big target
New Chandigarh, October 3 – In the third One Day International at PCA International Cricket Stadium, India posted a formidable target of 352 runs against the West Indies after a dominant batting display.
India won the toss and chose to bat. Early wickets fell quickly as Shubman Gill was out on the third ball of the third over and Virat Kohli followed soon after, leaving the side at 4/2.
Rohit Sharma rescued the innings with a partnership of 137 runs alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad, moving the score to 141. Rohit was dismissed on 92, just eight runs shy of a hundred, after a fluent knock of 85 balls, three sixes and ten fours.
KL Rahul then took the helm, adding 19 runs with Gaikwad before the latter fell for 57. Rahul’s partnership with Naman Dhir (65 runs) carried the total past the 200‑run mark. Debutant Anshul Kombaj contributed a steady 40 runs, bringing the team close to a 300.
The innings climaxed with Rahul’s unbeaten 129 from 87 balls, punctuated by six sixes and ten fours. He and Gurkeerat Mann added 61 runs for the eighth wicket, with Mann scoring eight.
West Indies’ bowling effort was headed by Jaidin Sills, who claimed three wickets for 62 runs. Kimo Paul took two wickets and Gudakesh Motie added one.
India’s XI featured Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul (wk), Neeraj Kumar Reddy, Naman Dhir, Anshul Kombaj, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Siraj and Gurkeerat Mann.
The 352‑run target sets up a tense final game as both sides look to finish the series on a high note.
