The Hundred 2026: MI London’s run rate deficit ends campaign

Auckland, 13 August – The Hundred 2026 saw the defending champions MI London knocked out after a narrow two‑run win against Birmingham Phoenix proved insufficient. With a net run rate lower than Manchester United and Sunrisers London, both of whom also secured five wins from eight matches, MI London slipped to fourth place and missed the eliminator.

Manchester United and Sunrisers will battle on 14 August for the final spot in the championship match, where Trent Rockets have already booked their place. The final is slated for 16 August.

Birmingham Phoenix won the toss and chose to bowl. MI London posted 157/6, driven by Nicholas Pooran’s brisk 36 off 21 deliveries (three sixes, two fours). Jason Roy added 26, Ollie Skies 23 and James Vince 22.

Phoenix’s bowlers Chris Wood and Rehan Ahmed each claimed two wickets, while Tom Helms and Jordan Thompson took one each. Chasing 158, Phoenix fell short at 155/7, losing by two runs and ending their season with a seventh defeat.
