Teen sensation Khushi Kadian reaches singles finals after double victory
New Delhi – The Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship, now in its 31st edition, has highlighted the impressive form of 13‑year‑old Khushi Kadian. Teaming up with Sanamita Harini from Tamil Nadu, Kadian clinched the Girls Under‑16 Doubles title, overcoming fourth‑seeded Eastern Patwa and Ranjana Sangram 6‑3, 6‑3 on Friday.
Beyond the doubles win, Kadian secured her place in the singles finals of both the Under‑16 and Under‑14 categories. She dispatched third‑seed Aradhya Meena 6‑0, 6‑3 in the Under‑16 semi and defeated Sanvi Mohan 6‑1, 6‑3 to earn the Under‑14 final slot against second‑seed Siddhi Pandey, who mounted a comeback against tenth‑seed Aradhana Tehlan.
The day was physically taxing for Kadian, as the doubles final was her third match of the tournament. Nevertheless, she maintained a high level of play, keeping her dream of a "title hat‑trick" alive.
Other junior competitors also made headlines. Reevav Saroha of Chandigarh, fresh from an Under‑18 boys title, advanced to the Under‑16 boys final after a 6‑0, 6‑1 win over Kushagra Arora. In the Under‑14 boys final, Karnataka’s second‑seed Punit Manohar will meet Telangana’s fifth‑seed S. Chintagunta.
The Boys Under‑16 doubles crown went to Vivaan Mirdha (Rajasthan) and Harsh Marwah (Haryana) with a 6‑4, 6‑3 victory, while Maharashtra’s Arav Chullani and Karnataka’s top‑seed Punit Manohar captured the Under‑14 boys doubles. The Girls Under‑14 doubles title was secured by Maharashtra’s Sara Fengkse and Trisha Bhosale.
Kadian’s multi‑category success underscores the depth of talent emerging from India’s junior tennis circuit as the Fenesta Open approaches its climax.
