Team India Stays Within Reach of Lead After Two Rounds in Selangor

After the completion of the second round of the Malaysia Ladies Amateur Open, Team India remains just four strokes behind the leaderboard leaders from the host nation. The duo of Sirir Kang and Guntas Sandhu recorded a combined total of 292, securing third place in the team championship.

Sirir, a 19‑year‑old from Panchkula, posted a one‑over 71, moving her overall score to one‑over 145 and earning a solo sixth‑place finish. Guntas, hailing from Chandigarh and aged 15, posted a two‑over 74, sharing seventh place with several competitors.

The tournament features 54 amateurs from 11 Asian countries, with participants from China, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei, South Korea, the Philippines and Singapore. The competition is being held at Glenmore Golf & Country Club in its 40th edition, with about 40 players from roughly 20 nations expected to play three rounds. Individual titles will be decided after 54 holes, while the team champion will be determined after 36 holes based on the combined scores of two players.

Both Indian golfers displayed moments of brilliance: Sirir struck three birdies on the front nine before bogeys on the 16th and 18th knocked her back, while Guntas experienced a roller‑coaster round with three birdies and two bogeys on each half of the course.
