Tanzim Islam’s Fine Knock Helps Bangladesh Post 317 in Test
Tanzim Hasan Tamim’s aggressive innings was a cornerstone of Bangladesh’s 317‑run first‑innings total against Afghanistan. After a steady opening partnership of 124 runs with Shadman Islam, Tamim continued the momentum, scoring 83 runs off 71 balls.
His knock featured eight fours and four sixes, showcasing his ability to dominate the Afghan pace attack. Shadman Islam, who made 67 with seven boundaries, set the foundation before being dismissed.
The middle order added valuable contributions: Momunul Haque made 39, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto 29, and Litton Das accelerated with an 89‑run assault, including four fours. Mushfiqur Rahim could not get past a single, leaving the lower order to finish the innings.
Afghanistan’s bowlers found little success, with Mohammad Salim Safi taking three wickets, while Yamin Ahmadzai and Ismat Alam each grabbed two. Caes Ahmed added one wicket.
Tamim’s performance, combined with the solid start, placed Bangladesh in a commanding position heading into the second day.
