Tamil Nadu Celebrates Commonwealth Success with Financial Rewards

Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, adhering to his pledge to boost sports excellence, distributed cheques totaling INR 80 lakh to Commonwealth Games 2026 medalists from Tamil Nadu. Raja Muthupandi, who earned a silver in men’s 65 kg weight‑lifting, was given INR 30 lakh. Praveen Chitravel, the silver‑medalist in men’s triple jump and a former SDAT hostel trainee, received INR 30 lakh through his father. Selva Prabhu, bronze‑medalist in the same event and also a previous SDAT trainee, was handed INR 20 lakh. The event was attended by Public Works and Sports Development Minister Adhav Arjun, Secretary Sandeep Nanduri of the Youth Welfare and Sports Department, and SDAT Member‑Secretary J. Meghanath Reddy. Their recognition aligns with the government's goal of positioning Tamil Nadu as India’s top sporting state.
