Seventeen‑year‑old sprinter Neel Samraj from Tamil Nadu turned heads at the National Youth Athletics Championship by winning the Under‑18 boys’ 100‑metre with a record‑breaking 10.46 seconds. The time eclipsed the 2023 national record of 10.63 seconds set in Coimbatore and also topped the meet’s previous best of 10.68 seconds from Bilaspur. Neel’s performance was part of a broader Tamil Nadu sweep that saw the state’s T Mrithika capture the women’s 100‑metre title in 11.78 seconds, improving upon the 2012 Bengaluru record of 11.80 seconds.
