Talent Hunt Scheme Targets 5-15 Year Olds at Gujarat Sports Festival

The Gujarat Sports Mahakumbh, commencing in Morbi, incorporates the Talent Hunt programme announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Independence Day 2026. The scheme zeroes in on children between five and fifteen years, aiming to identify and develop future Olympians.

Anju Sharma, a celebrated rifle shooter, explained that while the Olympics feature around 350 events, India currently participates in only a handful. By expanding the talent base through the Mahakumbh, the country hopes to increase its representation across a wider spectrum of sports.

Traditional games such as Langdi, Satoliya and other regional pastimes are being re‑introduced to ensure cultural continuity. Participants who excel will receive medals, cash rewards, and full coverage of educational and training costs under various Gujarat government schemes.
