Swiatek Moves to Seventh Place on WTA Wins List After Wuhan Victory

Iga Swiatek's 6-2 6-1 win over Magdeleine Fréch at the Wuhan Open gave her a 149th career triumph, overtaking Serena Williams' 148‑win record and elevating Swiatek to the seventh position on the all‑time WTA victories chart. The match, which lasted 103 minutes, was Swiatek's 40th win of the current season, a milestone she has achieved in each of the last five years.

Speaking to the media, Swiatek expressed gratitude for the centre‑court opportunity and emphasized that the low error count was key to the result. She said each season presents different challenges, making every win valuable as she aims for a place in the upcoming WTA Finals.

Her upcoming clash will be against either Aeschylin Krüger or Lynn Lanna Taran‑Rudi.
