Sri Lanka’s ODI Squad Shaken as Pathum Nissanka Withdraws

The Sri Lankan cricket team has been shaken by the withdrawal of top‑order batsman Pathum Nissanka from the one‑day tri‑series scheduled in Pakistan. Nissanka, who was part of the 15‑man squad, could not obtain medical clearance due to a hamstring injury sustained after the England white‑ball tour.

Without a clear sign of recovery, selectors opted to leave him out of the squad that leaves for Rawalpindi on Sunday. The vacancy has been filled by Lahiru Udara, who is expected to provide solidity at the top of the innings.

Previously, Nissanka missed the T20 series against Pakistan and his participation in the upcoming two‑test series will hinge on a further fitness assessment. The team also omitted former captain Charith Asalanka, while recalling Avishka Fernando and all‑rounder Sahan Arachige to replace the injured Vanindu Hasaranga.

The revised team features captain Kusal Mendis, Avishka Fernando, Kamal Mashara, Pawan Ratnayake, Sahan Arachige, Kamindu Mendis, Janith Liyanage, Dasun Shanaka, Dunith Welagedara, Mahesh Theekshana, Sachindu Colombage, Dushmantha Chameera, Asitha Fernando, Dilshan Madushanka and Ishanka Malinga.
