A serious injury to all‑rounder Devmi Vihanga has left Sri Lanka’s women’s cricket side scrambling just weeks before the 2026 T20 Asia Cup in the UAE. The 23‑year‑old suffered a right‑knee strain during a routine drill and was immediately ruled out of the tournament.

The Sri Lanka Cricket board responded by promoting left‑arm spinner Nimasha Meepage, a promising talent who bowls with a tight line and length. The move maintains the squad’s balance, with veteran bowler Mithali Ayodhya and all‑rounder Chetana Vimukthi expected to return after missing the recent Pakistan series.
